Chief Complaint
Patient presents for orthodontic consultation and reports difficulty with food clearance and orthodontic appliance wear due to high upper anterior labial frenum attachment.
Clinical Findings
Upper anterior labial frenum is attached very high, close to the interdental papilla between teeth #11 and #21.
Issues noted:
Impaired food clearance from buccal sulcus.
Interference with orthodontic appliance placement and function.
Treatment Plan
Take impressions for study model fabrication and LM activator selection.
Perform frenectomy for upper anterior labial frenum using diode laser.
Pre-orthodontic intraoral and profile photographs.
Wax bite record.
Pre-operative Assessment
Upper and lower alginate impressions taken.
Wax bite recorded.
Pre-orthodontic profile and intraoral photos captured.
Informed consent obtained after explaining procedure and associated risks.
Patient agreed to proceed.
Anesthesia
Local infiltration anesthesia administered.
Surgical Procedure
Patient prepped and draped in sterile fashion.
Frenum released under tension using 980nm diode laser.
Alveolar gingival attachment dissected.
Laser applied for final contouring and hemostasis.
